Mental & Emotional Health
“Let’s see if we can get you feeling more like you again”
Are you feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed?
Emotional health plays a large part in the lives of the clients that come to clinic. We live in such a busy world and bombarded by stimuli so much of the day. When are we really able to switch off?
Practicing self care is a necessity not a luxury but so often life gets in the way and we forget to take time out for ourselves.
Self care looks different for everyone, for some it is a warm bath and a good book or listening to their favourite song; for others it is meditation, yoga, walking in nature, spending time with their best friend or acupuncture.
I am a firm believer that what ever it is that works for you, just do that one thing at a time!! That means ensure there are no other distractions, no phones, no laptops, no people that will cause you to slip back into multitasking! Even just 10 mins a day is a great start.
Where does Acupuncture fit in?
Acupuncture enables us to access your parasympathetic nervous system, which induces a calming and healing state, in contrast to the sympathetic nervous system, which triggers the stress response commonly known as "fight or flight." Although we can’t prevent stresses happening, you may find that your body responds to pressures/stress/overwhelm/sadness in a way that feels somewhat easier to cope with.
I strongly advise that if you are struggling with your mental health, in the first instance you should contact your GP/Health Professional. I commonly work with clients who are also working alongside other professionals as mental health can benefit from a range of modalities.
