The transition through peri-menopause and into menopause can be a rollercoaster of a ride.

“There is support here for you”

Do you feel like your menstrual cycle is changing and you have no idea what is going on with your body or your mind?

I find many of us realise very quickly how we have absolutely no idea of what going through this transition actually feels like. We hear about the hot flushes, night sweats, aches and pains, vaginal dryness and then we learn that there are actually in excess of 34 varying symptoms that we may need to navigate our way through and most of us will have 10 of them!!

Do you find your symptoms come and go making you wonder what on earth it is? Is it hormones or something that needs more investigation?

Do you sometimes feel like you don’t even know who you are anymore with your emotions switching around, from high to low and everything in between?

This is such an important time for us to listen to our bodies and recognise that we may not have the energy that we had in our 20’s!

Peri-menopause also comes at a time when offspring are needing attention, aging parents need support and our careers could be at their peak. It is not surprising that stress, anxiety and overwhelm are common emotions that I see in clinic at this time.

Acupuncture can help your body to balance its hormones and promote a sense of overall wellbeing and calm. It is important to note that maintaining a balanced lifestyle and diet also play an important part in helping you through this phase (alcohol and stress being common aggravators to imbalance). So it is best to view acupuncture as a 2-way relationship. I will provide the acupuncture, knowledge and expert experience but the real magic happens within you. It is your body that responds to the acupuncture and the continued adjustments or additions to diet and lifestyle that occur outside the treatment room can have a profound effect to speed up the process of you feeling ‘like you’ again. It takes commitment and consistency, but I promise it will be worth it.

When you work with me, we go deep into all areas of your health. We also look at how to live best alongside your changing cycle and make the most of each hormone as they rise and fall! Outside influences such as exposure to toxins are also accounted for and can act as hormone disruptors and it is worth noting that we shouldn’t always jump to the conclusion that symptoms are down to (peri) menopause - it could be thyroid imbalances, adrenal fatigue, vitamin deficiency among others and these are worth investigating.

Reach out, let’s work together on this.

“I had difficulty with sleeping due to hot flushes following my hysterectomy.
I found Catherine’s knowledge and practice of acupuncture to be excellent and for me the outcomes have been particularly great. My migraines have almost disappeared and hot flushes totally gone, which in turn helped me with my sleep.
I feel so relaxed and de-stressed at the end of each session.
Catherine is a warm, confident practitioner who works closely in partnership with her patient. I would highly recommend her
